New innovative method to detect filmy contaminations – Forensics meets plastics

Contaminations can be easily and quickly visualized

Filmy Contaminations on uncoated components through fingerprints, mold release agents and preservatives etc. have been a problem for coating technology for many years. These contaminations can often not be visually detected and lead to optical errors/scrape. Identification was previously only possible through elaborate and expensive laboratory analysis.

After extensive research, a powder from forensics was found which was modified and validated with a partner. Contaminations can now be easily and quickly visualized directly on the injection molding machine or before coating. The powder has already been validated for a variety of coating processes, e.g. painting, electroplating and vacuum metallizing. The product can be ordered from the online-shop of the Kunststoff-Institut.
