On April 3, 2019 the symposium "Micro Injection Moulding" will be held for the 2
nd time by the Kunststoff-Zentrum in Leipzig (KUZ), titled "From the idea to the real molded part". The symposium offers a broad overview of possibilities for manufacturing of micro molded plastic parts.
Eight presentations on requirements for molding design
Product development, tool making, injection molding processing and tests geared to the special requirements belong to the topics of discussion. In eight special presentations, the requirements for molded part design with an adapted molded part to gate ratio, the selection of suitable machine technology, and the production environment required for production will be discussed. Experienced speakers from Gerresheimer, Ersa, Viaoptic, Dick & Dick, ETA SA and KUZ will give an insight into their production of micro parts. Furthermore, they also will give a specific description of the path from the idea to the molded part.
Two workshops demonstrate production and test methods
Two workshops will illustrate the challenges: At first, the production of interesting molded part examples will be demonstrated live on the machine technology in the Application Laboratory for Microplastics Technologies (MiKA). After that, test methods for the assessment of micro contours and for the view into the inner of a micro part will be demonstrated by Keyence and Werth.
The symposium "Micro Injection Moulding", guides the participants along the entire product development cycle. Also, important aspects of the manufacturing process will be shown concerning maximum precision in the production which results from the small dimension of micro molded parts. Within the scope of this Symposium, an open platform for intensive exchange of experiences with experts will be offered to the participants.
