At the annual COMPAMED Innovation Forum, leading experts present current topics in the medical device industry and discuss them with the participants. The German language event offers insight into challenges and solutions shown at COMPAMED, Europe’s largest fair for suppliers of medical manufacturing, which takes place in Düsseldorf every autumn.
This year, the COMPAMED Innovation Forum will take place as a digital event series. In three consecutive digital sessions, various partial aspects of "High-tech support for dementia patients" will be examined.
Due to their illness, dementia patients often feel threatened, especially in environments that they do not recognise and do not recognise or by foreign objects and devices. Spatial concepts therefore play an essential role in giving patients the feeling of security and safety. This is especially true for hospitals that seem unfamiliar and threatening to patients. But also in care facilities and in the home environment, a suitable room design can contribute to the well-being and thus facilitate the work of the nursing staff.
In the third part of the lecture series, Brigitte Bührlen from the Stiftung Pflegender Angehöriger (Foundation of Caring Relatives) will therefore discuss the challenges and requirements of home care. Initial experiences and ideas for dementia-specific patient room design are explained using the example of a project at the Helios Clinics. Using lighting control and sensors integrated in the room, exemplary technical possibilities are presented.
In the ensuing discussion, nurses and physicians will discuss the need and necessity for technical solutions with the technology developers and providers together with the forum participants. Click here for the program.
