At the annual COMPAMED Innovation Forum, leading experts present current topics in the medical device industry and discuss them with the participants. The German language event offers insight into challenges and solutions shown at COMPAMED, Europe’s largest fair for suppliers of medical manufacturing, which takes place in Düsseldorf every autumn.
This year, the COMPAMED Innovation Forum will take place as a digital event series. In three consecutive digital sessions, various partial aspects of "High-tech support for dementia patients" will be examined.
In an increasingly ageing society, the number of dementia patients is also increasing. Dementia is a major challenge not only for those affected but also for their relatives and medical staff. Dementia patients are very sensitive and any uncertainty on the part of the carers is also passed on to them. They feel threatened by the supposedly unknown and react irritably and aggressively. An important point in the care of these patients is therefore the timely recognition of their state of mind and the targeted calming of their feelings.
At the beginning of the lecture series, Dr. Winfried Teschauer, member of the board of the German Alzheimer Society, will explain the challenges facing our society. First research projects show concepts for the detection of the state of mind of patients, as well as the individual automated reaction to it, in order to calm patients and make it easier for carers to work with people with dementia.
In the ensuing discussion, nurses and physicians will discuss the need and necessity for technical solutions with the technology developers and providers together with the forum participants. Click here for the program.
