11th COMPAMED Spring Convention

Microfluidics in Medical Technology
May 3, 2017
Airport Conference Center, Frankfurt a.M., DE
The COMPAMED Spring Convention is the annual expert meeting for developers, producers and users in the field of medical practice. During spring-time it already offers insight into COMPAMED, Europe’s largest fair for suppliers of medical manufacturing, which takes place in Düsseldorf every autumn.

The next event on May 3, 2017 at Frankfurt airport will focus on microfluidics in medical technology. Directly to the program.

The development of medical technology aims at decentralizing care of patients. As a result all diagnostic and therapeutic measures and tools have to work at the "Point of Care (PoC)”. This offers big advantages as compared to the previous practice (visit to the doctor’s office and test in a laboratory)

  • Avoidance of stationary stays
  • Faster results for specific diagnosis and personalized treatment
  • Potential of saving on health care costs

These devices for diagnostics and therapy have to work automatically and reliably so their advantages can be used. Samples have to be defined exactly in their amount to analyse, process and test them. Drugs have to be assembled and dosed personally for the individual care of the patient. In order to achieve this microfluidic systems are significant.

Furthermore such systems can be used for automation of medical laboratories and bioengineering research.

Due to this the next event will present the role of microfluidic components and systems in different presentations.

  • Manufacturing methods and available materials for microfluidic components and BioMEMS products
  • Use of microfluidics in diagnostics, for example blood analysis by using lab-on-a-chip systems or mobile diagnostics
  • Use of microfluidics in drug dosing, for example implanted pumps
  • Combination of microfluidics with BioMEMS components and sensors

The conference language is English.
