IVAM Product Market “High-tech for Medical Devices” at COMPAMED 2018

Oct 26, 2018
The COMPAMED, which takes place annually co-located to the MEDICA in Dusseldorf, Germany, is an established and world-wide well-known marketplace for medical components and technologies. Every year, the COMPAMED asserts itself as the leading international marketplace for suppliers of medical manufacturing.

Especially in the field of medical devices for mobile diagnostics, therapy and laboratory equipment increasingly powerful, smart and reliable high-tech solutions are needed. This is why the demand for miniaturization of medical components continues to grow steadily. The product market "High-tech for Medical Devices", initiated by the IVAM Microtechnology Network, is COMPAMED's largest joint pavilion with 55 exhibitors. This year, the IVAM area in Hall 8a is characterized by its special internationality. The exhibitors come from Germany, Switzerland, France, the USA, the Netherlands, Austria, Great Britain, Greece, Belgium and Spain.

Additionally, the COMPAMED HIGH-TECH Forum, organized by IVAM, offers insight into research and development of the exhibited processes and products, explains technology trends and provides information on relevant foreign markets. This year, for instance a Switzerland session will take place. The COMPAMED HIGH-TECH Forum offers international presentations on all trade show days in hall 8a, booth G40.

Intelligent sensor technologies for medical devices

ams Sensors Germany GmbH presents NanEye, a miniature sized image sensor for applications, where size is a critical factor. The ability of the camera head to drive a signal through a cable up to 3m, makes NanEye a suitable component for minimal diameter endoscopes. The NanEye sensor provides delay free, smooth video operation resulting in a safe operation and a clear diagnosis. As an option, a small lens can be assembled to the chip. Since this does not increase the total diameter of the sensor, making it the world’s most compact digital camera.

CiS Forschungsinstitut für Mikrosensorik GmbH develops technologies for customized optoelectronic, piezoresistive and impedimetric sensors. Among the novelties are optical sensors for continuous monitoring of the blood pressure without a cuff. The sensor uses methods of pulse wave analysis in a photoplethysmogram and is manufactured on the MORES technology platform of the research institute. Blood pressure data will be determined based on a patented mathematical algorithm. Also presented the first time at COMPAMED are piezoresistive MEMS pressure transducers, which can be used in invasive clinical sensors.

European Sensor Systems will present silicon capacitive pressure sensors, which withstands up to 20x overpressure, at the fair. The company’s ESCP3-M1 Series is a digital Silicon Capacitive differential pressure sensor family of ultra-high resolution and excellent long term stability. The digital output is fully calibrated and temperature compensated based on the internal temperature sensor and the factory calibration coefficients. The capacitive principle of operation has significant advantages over the piezoresistive one. Tests have shown that the high side of a low pressure differential sensor can withstand up to x20 bar overpressure.

As a leading manufacturer of physical, chemical and biological sensors, Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG presents its sensor portfolio, consisting of thin and thick film platinum and nickel RTD temperature sensors, thermal mass flow sensors, capacitive humidity sensors, humidity modules, conductivity sensors and biosensors. In biosensors, enzymes are enabling the specific measurement of particular substances even in complex mixtures like whole blood. Cost-effective manufacture and factory-calibration enable single-use applications with highest application reliability. By using Jobst Technologies GmbH‘s flow-through biosensor chips, glucose and lactate can either be analyzed with a rate of 48 samples per hour in analyzers, or be monitored simultaneously like in the first continuous glucose & lactate monitor for critically ill patients (EIRUS, Getinge).

Sensirion AG is a manufacturer of innovative sensors for the measurement and control of gas and liquid flow, differential pressure, humidity, temperature, volatile organic compounds (VOC), CO2 and particulate matter (PM2.5). The flow and environmental sensors enable safe and reliable devices for ventilation, anesthesia, drug delivery, diagnostic and e-health applications.
